Strauss-Kahn insisted that of the 37 messages in question, there was no indication that the women he was speaking of were prostitutes. He was specifically questioned as to why he rented the apartment in the name of a friend, AFP reported. Instead of being questioned by prosecutors, Strauss-Kahn went toe-to-toe with Lemaire — who did his best to point out the downfalls of dealing in prostitution.
All those involved in prostitution suffer in their personal lives. Or I wanted to believe him. Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve were her predecessors. Sinclair was an art heiress and famous journalist when Strauss-Kahn was still a little-known economics professor. Yet she was hungry for his approval. Sinclair says her relationship with Strauss-Kahn was one of emprise, meaning hold, influence or control. I interviewed heads of state from all over the world.
I ran the family budget. I took decisions alone. I was afraid of discord, of his anger. For me it was emotional. He later repaid her most of the money.
DSK and Sinclair never talked through what happened. They made an out of court settlement for an undisclosed sum with Nafissatou Diallo , the chambermaid, and returned to Paris.
Sinclair reads in Le Monde about the so-called Carlton scandal, in which businessmen who wanted to curry favour with the man they expected to become the next president of France organised 15 orgies for his benefit, in Lille, Paris and Washington DC. I could have, should have left him. Sinclair is a survivor. Since the divorce, she has written four books, two of them about the second World War experiences of her Jewish grandfathers, one about the presidential election campaign, and now her memoir.
She has presented political and cultural radio and television programmes, and founded a French version of the online newspaper Huffington Post. They had not seen one another for more than 20 years.

If they can find the "mysterious blonde," Diallo's legal team of Kenneth Thompson and Douglas Wigdor think they can secure a witness who will explain details of the affair with Diallo, including whether Strauss-Kahn coerced her to do anything, and why the encounter took place in the hallway of the suite numbered The hurried nature of the sexual encounter between Strauss-Kahn and housekeeper Diallo has long been a central question in the case, and Strauss-Kahn's explanation in his biography that she invited him for felatio with a gaze as he emerged from the shower has left many unconvinced.
Another question about the encounter is why it happened in the hallway of the suite, instead of the bedroom. Diallo has alleged Strauss-Kahn chased her through the suite and finally caught her in the corridor. But Wigdor said that the new biography gives a different explanation. But some in the French media don't buy the notion that the reporters were only played the footage in order to help identify the woman.
French correspondents were shown a video of the Sofitel on which we see DSK back to his hotel the night of May 13 to 14, accompanied by anunidentified blond woman.
This video is of particular interest Naffissatou Diallo's lawyers seeking to know the identity of this woman, to question him in connection with civil proceedings commenced before the court in the Bronx.
